Phoenix Clock

Flagship · Motion · Live

An instrument for Jason Breshears’ Archaix research: the Chronicon’s Phoenix returns plotted as a spiral you descend by scrolling, from the Great Flood to a live countdown to May 2040.

My roleDesign, build and data work

Wind the clock
A spiral of history with every 138-year Phoenix pulse aligned on one spoke.

Every 138 years, the same spoke

Time is measured in 138-year turns, so every Phoenix return lands on the same radial spoke: a straight line of markers from the Great Flood of 2239 BCE to the red dust of 1902. Each spoke carries its records and its sources, and where the record is silent the spoke says so.

A countdown, not just a chart

The Clock keeps live counts to the May 2040 transit and the Nemesis X Object behind it. Scrolling descends the spiral toward 2040, which lights as the journey ends. Any return or marker is one click away.
